HÉLÈNE LABRIE began formally exploring the fine arts in her teens, but her calling — sculpture — first made itself known in her twenties. And that path appeared by happenstance. That was in the 1970s and she never looked back, going on to divide her time between her art and raising a family. Labrie's sculptures, besides being highly accomplished from a technical perspective, are above all the embodiment of warmth, imaginativeness, story. They are beauty, inflected with whimsy.
